Simon Fleming is a London-based Trauma and Orthopaedic registrar, medical education Ph.D and culture change advocate.

Simon is a founding member and the trainee representative for the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance (IODA). He is on the Executive board for the NIHR Clinical Education Incubator and Associate Editor for Medical Education and The Clinical Teacher. He is a past Vice Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Trainee Doctors’ Group (ATDG) and past President of the British Orthopaedic Trainees’ Association (BOTA). He is also Clinical Advisor to the Methuselah Foundation, supporting the NASA Deep Space Food Challenge.

Simon is passionate about combating bullying, discrimination, harassment and the lack of diversity and equity in healthcare. This passion led him to drive forward a national initiative to tackle behaviours like bullying, undermining and harassment.  #HammerItOut is inspiring other specialties to challenge the status quo and change leadership and organisational cultures. Supported by the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, Royal Colleges of Surgeons and others, he aspires to create a just culture; better for staff, patients and the NHS.
