Ned Wheaton
Student, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire
After receiving piano lessons for 3 years Ned was accepted and enrolled in the Centre of Advanced Training programme as part of the weekend school at the Sage Gateshead, studying under RCM tutored Julia Kennard. During his 4 year study he achieved 1st place in piano categories across competitions such as Tynedale Music Festival, Yarm Music Festival and the Avison Competition.
In 2019 Ned was accepted into the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with scholarship. Here he has been under the tutorage of department head Professor John Thwaites who is best known for his collaborative work with strings and as a founder member of the Primrose Piano Quaret. Ned has also had lessons with Jan Loeffler and occasional lessons with Professor Pascal Nemirovski who is recognised as one of the most sought-after piano pedagogues in the world.
Ned is currently a 4th year student and is working towards his final year project producing a CD and his end of year recital. This will be followed with a summer performance in Acqui Terme, Italy, through the Interharmony Music Festival.
