With her Doctor of Education thesis subject: Leaders and Leadership plus several articles and books including co-author on Clinical Leadership: A practical guide for Tutors, Trainees and Practitioners, Jane is the Lead Author of a new book on IBA in Leadership. Once published, this book will join the other core reading texts on an MSc Module titled Understanding and Managing Behaviours of Self, Teams and Organisations at Birmingham City University.

Jane is a nurse and academic by professional background and has worked at regional, national, and international level. As a nurse Jane specialised in Cardiology becoming the West Midland Coronary Heart Disease Coordinator representing the region on the CHD Workforce Care Group National Taskforce. She has held senior level posts in both public and private sector and has also held a range of programme management posts at regional and system level across a diverse subject matter including clinical education and training, cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, wound care, service transformation, workforce planning, and clinical network development. Jane has held advisory roles for the Healthcare Commission and Commission for Health Improvement, and as academic advisor for national RePAIR (Reducing Pre-registration Attrition and Improving Retention) programme. She has worked as an independent consultant developing a range of courses including a Workforce Planning Course for the World Health Organisation and its member states. Jane continues to maintain partnership working with health and social care colleagues with an emphasis on improving the experience of healthcare students in turn benefiting patient care and outcomes.
Jane has a special interest in leadership, since working in academia she has been Director of Business, Innovation and Enterprise and course lead for MSc Transforming and Leading in Healthcare. Jane was awarded Doctor of Education thesis subject: Leaders and Leadership by the University of Birmingham. She has published several articles and books including co-author on the book – Clinical Leadership: A practical guide for Tutors, Trainees and Practitioners.
