Katie Butler
Lead Matron, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Panel Group 2)
Katie is a Lead Matron at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The trust delivers over 100 clinical services and Katie leads the Nursing Profession over the inpatient wards.
Throughout her career, Katie has led on many clinical improvement projects. One of her most recent is implementing the Health Education England, Mouth Care Matters (MCM) programme which sets out to improve oral health as an important part of general health and wellbeing.
Katie’s passion is in Nurse Leadership and her aspiration is to become a Nurse Director. She has a keen interest in workforce planning and development and this year will be attending the Chief Nursing Officer, Safer Staffing Fellowship programme. Katie’s vision is to incorporate holistic concepts and the four rooms methodology to contribute towards the wider vision of NHS England to embed a sustainable, consistent approach to safer staffing in the NHS. Her objective is to work alongside the CNO team and her trusts Research and Innovation team to conduct research for safe staffing in community inpatient wards.
Katie commenced her Masters level education at Birmingham City University in 2021. During her first year she achieved a distinction in the ‘Understanding and managing behaviours of self, teams and organisations’ module and this year received a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice in Healthcare.
