Questions and Answers

Who can apply?

Whether you are in Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America or South America, you can access support from a qualified IBA Practitioner as long as you:

  • have a good understanding of the English language
  • are over 18 years old
  • have access to Skype
  • have an income below the national average for your country*

*To determine your income eligibility we recommend that you compare your current salary to the published results from The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) which is based in Paris, France.

Click here for further information about the OECD published results

If you are unemployed we welcome your application.

How does the support work?

  • All sessions take place using SKYPE calls so you will need access to SKYPE software https://www.skype.com
  • The calls can be carried out to suit your country time zone.
  • You will have access to an IBA Practitioner for 60 minutes.

Does it cost anything?

You will make no payment for this service to the IBA Practitioner who supports you. This is a Pro Bono service. The service is normally charged at

  • $200 (US dollars) per hour
  • £150 (UK pounds) per hour
  • €170 (Euros) per hour

This Pro Bono service is in line with our provision to support clients on low income and to meet our governance to ‘give something back’.

How do you select pro bono clients?

There is a global population of 7.6 billion of which about 3 billion are employed. While we would like to offer this pro bono support to everyone, we cannot do this in one week! Consequently, while demand for this service will be high, clients will be selected at random to receive support.

How do I apply?

Applications will be accepted as from 1st September 2019 and this will be announced on the IBA Worlds Twitter page.

To apply you need to complete a short application which will be available from this web page after 1st September 2018 and which will take you about 3 minutes to complete.

Apart from your email address you will not be required to give any other personal information. We only require your first name and if you want to conceal your identity by using a pseudonym this is fine with us.

The details you supply on the application will be kept and used in accordance with our Privacy Statement.

How will I know if I have been accepted?

We will only notify those people who have been accepted. We will do this on Friday 1st October 2019 by email.  If you do not receive an email, then regretfully on this occasion you have not been accepted onto the Pro Bono scheme.

If I am not accepted in 2019, when can I next apply for Pro Bono support?

You can apply again in 2020 when we advertise IBA Pro Bono Week 2020. The best way of knowing when applications will be accepted will be by following  IBA Worlds Twitter page @IBAWorlds
